Drivers must be at least 21 years old and hold a full drivers licence. Licences from the UK, Europe, Canada and Australia are accepted in NZ for a period of twelve months. International licences apply for all other nationalities.
The speed limit on the open road is 100kph and 50kph in towns and cities. However, this limit can vary. There are sign posts stating the limit for particular areas at the side of the road so always check them when driving around New Zealand.
This ferry is called “The Inter Islander” and you can book it from

Blue Bridge ( www.bluebridge.co.nz).
Yes in peak seasons ( December to February) we strongly recommend for you to do so whenever is possible.
There are supermarkets near both our depots in Auckland and Christchurch, which open early in the morning and close after mid night. If you like, we can set it up on the GPS system as your first stop.
We’re not affiliated with any local hotels or motels. The
AA travel site has a really handy accommodation search engine. Type ‘Auckland Airport’ or ‘Christchurch Airport’ into the ‘city/town’ box to find places to find places near the airport. The Wises website is also fantastic for checking out the location of possible accommodation.
In most cases you only need to book a holiday park on the morning of your arrival.
